Theory: How to build chords, what makes a major 7 or a minor 9 chord?. Scales, modes and altered modes, how they are constructed and how to use them.
Rhythm: Understanding time signatures and its implication on music, Rhythm Techniques including finger picking. Stylistic Rhythmic playing; Blues rock and jazz.
Technique: Basic Left and right hand training, Warm ups, finger independance, stretching and stamina. Hammer on's, Pull off's, bends, palm muting, tapping...
Improvisation: Using chords and scales to create riffs and songs, Understanding relationships between scales and chords. Learning to jam and more.
Advanced: Techniques such as speed picking, sweep picking, legato, string skipping and hybrid picking. Theory: altered chords, chord substitutions and altered scales

Rockschool Guitar Grades are a great resource for learning various aspects of Guitar including - how to improvise Stylistically , Music Theory and sight reading.
As well as this Grade 8 is a recognized qualification and earns UCAS Points.
